Meatless Sloppy Joes

Writer: tianastexaskitchentianastexaskitchen

Well, it's safe to say that Tasty.co is my favorite recipe website. It's a perfect hub for not only getting recipes, but also seeing how they are made. I don't know about you, but when reading a recipe, I often question myself and ask "Am I doing this right?!" or "Is it supposed to look like that?" So, visuals are a huge a help! Check it out and I hope you did something fun this Sunday!

Original Recipe:

Follow the recipe "as is" from Tasty.co. I didn't add the green pepper, only because I forgot I didn't have one, and I substituted the vegetable protein for green lentils.

Directions:

Follow the directions as directed in the recipe. I sauteed the onions and garlic and then threw the rest in a crock pot and let cook on low for 2-3 hours. You could follow the directions as listed and it would still be delicious.

My Review:

This recipe was great to throw in a crock pot and let cook.First, don't go into this thinking it will be just like ground beef sloppy joes. It's clearly not. However, the texture is good and the flavor is nice and smoky. The smells even enticed my carnivore husband, who was pleasantly surprised on how good this was! We not only ate the mixture in sandwiches, but threw the mixture in a bowl, topped with cheese and ate with tortilla chips. I highly recommend!
